My Two Cents...
Welcome to issue #1 of Apps Weekly!!!
I'm beyond grateful that you are here!
I'm going to get right to it... Creating a weekly publication is uncharted territory for me. As for the apps, however... that's where I shine! Apps have been my professional life for 5 years now. From creating the world 1st app to scan plants in agricultural grow houses, to helping build an education program that brings mobile app development to high school classrooms, and even all the way to creating apps used by law enforcement agencies to catch human traffickers. Did any of those pique your interest? I'll be sprinkling in stories of my wild career path in these issues as well so stay tuned.
What I'm saying is that for the last 5 years, I've been all over this app'osphere and I feel confident in my ability to curate valuable info on apps that bring value straight to your inbox and inevitably... your brains! ðŸ§
... and with that, let's get to it. Thank you again for being here!
News Bytes
Instagram removes the IGTV button from their app because no one used it.
IGTV app was Instagram's answer to the question, "where can I post a video over 60 seconds that my followers will find?" IGTV only had 7Million downloads even with its app icon living on the Instagram app's main feed window. Is Instagram claiming defeat in its effort to enter the long-form media market?
Fantastical Calendar app Users, the era of free app updates is over
1 of the most adopted 3rd party calendar apps on Apple devices, Fantastical 2, is moving to a paid subscription model called Fantastical Premium. See the new features and decide for yourself if it's worth $5/month. I have used Fantastical for years and I'm going to have to decide if I'm willing to pay monthly for the new features.
When is the Android 10 update available for your phone?
If you're not rocking a Google Pixel phone, you've been sidelined while the new Android 10 OS was dished out to them first. Here's the timeline so you know when you can know when you're going to be called up to the line.
My App Recommendation

Android / iOS - Just a Line - Draw anywhere, with AR
I stumbled on this app while I was looking at the App Categories available for this year's Webby awards. You can draw in an AR world with your friends. When I play with these Augmented Reality style apps, I always find a playful creative novelty to them that I just know is going to find practical use in the next couple of years.

iOS - ‎WHAT THE GOLF?
I'm in LOVE with this hilariously over the top silly Golf game. I find myself going back into this game, completely prepared to spend an hour playing. So many times I have said out loud, "who honestly comes up with all these crazy levels". I don't want to give anything away... download it from Apple Arcade and enjoy.

Siri serves up your passwords
Did you know you can ask Siri to open up your Keychain Passwords?!?! Getting to stored passwords has always been a pain point in iOS, as they're buried in the Settings app. Now they're only a voice command away.
Got the Android 10 Upgrade: Learn the new Gestures
There are a bunch of gestures but I was happy just to learn how to use the new gestures in the Overview window as a timesaver to get to more info super quick.
